Begin with some games to start us thinking about the fire circle and safety. Learning about how to prepare a good fire and start it with a flint and steel. Each week we explore different foods that can be foraged, dependent on season, and how they can be used in our cooking. Generally we spend the time enjoying making the fire, cooking and sharing some amazing food.
From wands to works of art, we explore the different use of the simple tools we have to create something out of wood. It might be using a potato peeler to peel bark and secateurs to trim the sticks to tie with string, or it could be using a bow saw to cut a branch and using a log to create a mallet, or stool, or just a simple noughts and crosses board. Everything made can be taken home to enjoy.
Learn about the wildlife and nature of the woodland and enjoy using them in crafts. Including clay, photosensitive papers, natural picture frames, leaf rubbing, natural sticky bracelets, making butterfly or bird feeders and many more. Generally a craft influenced session to just appreciate and enjoy the environment we are in.
